Writing Workshop-Children learn to express themselves in various ways through writing personal narratives, informational writing, and opinion writing.

Math-Children will acquire a large number of skills including additional and subtraction, problem solving, counting money, telling time, standard measurement and graphing.

Science and Social Studies-Children are provided with a variety of interesting subjects to help them grow in their knowledge of the community they live in and the world around them.

Lifeskills-Our goal in 1st grade is to create an environment that is conducive to learning for all students and that promotes the development of lifeskills.  It is very important for students to perform well academically but it is equally significant for them to become respectful, responsible, and trustworthy.

Homework-1st Graders will usually have Math homework Monday through Thursday.  Students are expected to read at least 50 minutes per week and to turn in their reading minutes weekly.

As parents you play a key role in your child's success at school.  It is very important to communicate with your child's teacher.  Good communication between home and school will ensure that your child has a happy and productive year in first grade.  We look forward to working with you as partners in your child's education.
