Taiyo Teraji gave a presentation at NorthWood Middle School on Aug. 25 to all eighth grade students. The students are studying immigration in their Language Arts and Social Studies classes, and Taiyo is a recent immigrant to America from Tokai, Japan. Taiyo shared with the students his experiences integrating into American culture and what his life was like in Japan. Before Taiyo’s presentation, students compiled questions for Taiyo in their Language Arts classes using a Google form on their laptops. Taiyo was able to view the questions ahead of time and incorporate them into his presentation. The students enjoyed his visit and were able to then reflect on the experience later in the school day within their Language Arts classes.
