NWHS received the Award of Excellence from the IASP for being a Triple State Finalist. The IASP Department of Student Programs recognized schools who qualified for the State Finals competition in at least three Senior Division contests offered by IASP (Academic Spell Bowl, Academic Decathalon, and Academic Super Bowl, and Cheer Championships) during the 2018-19 school year.
Of the 301 schools who participate in at least one Indiana Academic Competition or Cheerleading Competition in the Senior Division, only 15 were able to field a team in all three academic programs, and four fielded a team in all four eligible to senior division schools. Of those teams, five are receiving this Award of Excellence.
