Mrs. Dawn Payne:
I am so excited to be back at NES once again! I am excited to bring my love for sports and fitness to the physical education classroom.
I grew up in Mishawaka and went on to meet my husband John at Bethel College where we were both playing basketball and majoring in elementary education. In 1999, after graduating, we were married, and I began my teaching career. I taught for several years before stepping away from education to stay home with our 4 kids: Madison, J.J., Claire, and Reid. In 2012 when my husband became the principal at Wakarusa Elementary, we made the decision to move our family to this community.
In 2016 I started back to teaching by filling various teaching roles that were needed in our district. I have gained a wide range of experience and gotten to know many students and adults in our community through these experiences.
I hope to make PE a fun and good experience for kids. In every interaction I have with students and adults, I want them to leave feeling like they are valued, seen, and loved. I want to encourage and equip people to be the best version of themselves in and out of school.
