The mission of NorthWood Middle School is to provide a safe environment in which each student has sufficient opportunity to learn how to take intelligent, ethical action and to accomplish the goals of his/her educational program.

School Hours:   7:45 am - 2:58 pm (M,T,Th,F)
                          7:45 am - 2:28pm (W)
 
Absences: To report an absence, please call 862-2710 before 9:00 am
 
Closings or Delays: There will be a red banner at the top of all Wa-Nee Websites announcing a delay or closing.
 
Parents can begin registration for the 21-22 school year online on or after July 15th.  If parents need to use a computer after July 15th they may go to Administration between the hours of 8:00 am – 4:00 pm, the public library, or after July 26th make an appointment to stop in the school.  

Any family who has not registered their student yet should visit the middle school during office hours or contact the school office.

All Grades
Stop by the Library and check out the Book Fair happening this week.  Mrs. Swihart will be raffling off book fair posters every day of the fair. Go to the library to enter your name. Only one entry per day and one poster per winner.  Alijah Buchanan is the winner of Tuesday’s free poster and Carol Hennings is the winner of Wednesday’s free poster!
 
Battle of the Books is a reading competition that will be hosted at NWMS this school year.  In teams of 2-4 readers, students read the selected novels (from the Young Hoosier Book Awards list for 2021-22) and then compete in a novel-based trivia competition.  New for 2021: Battle of the Books Book Club Activities!  Each month, we will have some novel-themed activities for Battle participants during Club Day!  If you’d like to participate in this year’s battle, pick up a permission slip in the library.
 
The FFA Chapter will be doing Community Garden Clean up today right after school. Students who are interested coming to the FFA fall party make sure to sign up in Miss Alexander’s Room and see what you will need to bring to the fall party with you. 
 
Student council members on the We Scare Hunger committee should meet in Mrs. Cramer’s room today during Advisory. 
 
Student council is sponsoring a spirit week next week that will coincide with a We Scare Hunger campaign to help local food pantries with donations. Posters will start going up this week to inform everyone what to wear each day and what food item to bring in to donate. It will be a week of fun and giving!
 
7th & 8th grade
Tonight is the Learning Fair for 7th & 8th grades from 5:30 PM – 7:30 PM.  Stop by to pick up your report card, show your parents your classes and talk to your teachers.
