Welcome to Wa-Nee Transportation

The Wa-Nee Transportation Department is committed to providing safe and efficient transportation for students.
Safe transportation of students is a shared responsibility of the Wa-Nee Community School's administration, school staff, drivers, monitors, parents, students and the community.
What to expect on the bus this year:
New Procedures:
Follow physical distancing at bus stops.
When near other students, face coverings are expected.
You may be asked to lower your face covering when boarding the bus so that the driver can identify you.
Drivers may wear face coverings when near students but for safety reasons, may not when driving.
 Familiar procedures with more emphasis:
      One bus stop location policy.
Do not board the bus if you are ill.
      Follow all driver instructions.
      Expect assigned seating when possible.
      Remain seated and facing forward.
      Talk quietly with your seatmates.
Only school children are allowed on the bus.

Department Overview

A Tradition of Excellence

Currently, the Wa-Nee Transportation Department consists of 66 active employees who utilize a fleet of 53 vehicles to transport over 2,500 students to and from school. On any given morning or afternoon, we transport approximately 80% of our student body. We travel over 2,000 miles per day or 360,000 miles per school year covering the 145 square miles of Wa-Nee territory and other Elkhart County locations.

Nineteen (19) schools are serviced as we meet the transportation needs of our general education, special education, preschool, Head Start, the Alternative School, Elkhart Area Career Center, Young Adult, and Boys' and Girls' Club students.

Every school year we provide over 31,000 miles of extracurricular travel for our athletes, musicians, and academic students.

Our drivers are conscientious professionals who go above and beyond to ensure the safety of their passengers and the motorists with whom they share the road.

Our students are among the best and the brightest. They observe safety and behavior rules and they are taught to respect others.

Wa-Nee's "Tradition of Excellence" travels with us on our routes, field trips, and extracurricular events.

It is our privilege to serve the Wa-Nee Community.
