Chris Berg joined us in October of 2021.  He is a true instructional leader who comes to us from South Bend Community Schools where he served as the head building principal at Clay High School.   Prior to being a building principal, Chris was an assistant principal at John Adams High School for three years, an English teacher in South Bend Community Schools for eight years, and an English teacher at Wawasee Community Schools for two years.

Chris brings to NorthWood a vast array of knowledge, experience, and expertise in the areas of educational instruction and leadership.  As an English Teacher at Washington High School, Chris was integral part of the 10th Grade English Team that developed an academic calendar and implemented a strategic plan that included data collection, analysis, and assessment.   The result of this plan led to an 18% increase in English test scores from 2010-2011.  In 2016, Chris was recognized by his colleagues to represent Riley High School as their Teacher of the Year.  A few years later as an assistant principal at John Adams High School, Chris spearheaded a (MTSS) Multi-Tiered Systems of Support plan that saw a 37% decrease in student Office Disciplinary Referrals and a 11% reduction in tardiness.  Chris’s passion for collaboration led him to establish successful PLC’s and Teacher Leadership Teams within his first year as the building principal at Clay High School.
